Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and results-driven Business Development Manager to acquire and
grow relationships with global merchants seeking to enter African markets. This role is fully remote
and will focus on building a robust pipeline, closing deals, and ensuring smooth onboarding without
the need for travel

 

Global Merchant Acquisition
• Identify and target global merchants in sectors such as eCommerce, travel, gaming, SaaS, and
digital marketplaces.
• Develop tailored sales proposals addressing local payment methods, multi-currency settlement,
and cross-border compliance.
• Manage the full remote sales cycle—from prospecting to deal closure and digital onboarding.
Partnership Development
• Establish relationships with international PSPs, marketplaces, and technology providers that can
drive merchant referrals.
• Work with platform integrators to streamline merchant onboarding.
Market Insights & Strategy
• Monitor global expansion trends, competitor activity, and merchant needs to refine sales strategy.
• Provide structured feedback to product and operations teams to improve market fit for global
clients.
Account Growth & Retention
• Support merchants post-onboarding, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
• Maintain strong relationships through regular virtual engagement and performance reviews.

 

Performance Metrics
• Number of new global merchants acquired remotely.
• Revenue generated from global merchant accounts.
• Merchant retention and growth rates.
• Sales cycle duration and conversion rate.

Requirements

Required:
• 2–3 years’ experience in business development, partnerships, or sales within payments, fintech,
or eCommerce.
• Proven ability to sell to and manage international merchants remotely.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and virtual presentation skills.
• Comfortable using CRM, sales automation, and online meeting tools.
• Self-motivated, target-oriented, and able to work independently.


Preferred:

Experience with payment processing, FX, or multi-currency settlement.
• Existing connections with PSPs, marketplaces, or large global merchants.
• Exposure to remote-first sales environments.
